NEC PA550W Network Control.

Adam Kremmel Jan 14, 2017 07:48PM EST

So, i'm trying to set up a NEC PA550W projector to work via network commands. Each of my projectors is on a custom remote id i have made the changes needed to my command.

So i have used Packet Sender on my mac, to send \02\00\01\10\00\13 as well as 02 00 01 10 00 13 to at port 7142 to power on my projector, after about 2 seconds it powers on. When i input the power down code it works just the same.

I input this same code into the remote control for my power on command and absolutely nothing occurs. I get zero activity.

I have my projectors each set up as a separate network gateway with the proper ip address for the unit as well as port settings that match everything i did above. When i don't enter login information i get red error codes for communication to gateway, however when i put the login information it goes green and i get green arrows when i send commands.

I am using the basic version so i can't obviously see what is going on with feedback from the remote app. I was thinking maybe i need to be using an http gateway type but wasn't sure. I also noticed that i saw with the few nec codes that are out there that they go \x02\x00\x01\x10\x00\x13 like this. Coding isn't my strong suit and i haven't ordered my ir units yet to actually do a learn ir code and just say the heck with the network codes.

Any help would be amazingly helpful here.

Try application called Docklight Scripting. You can input your hex code in there and see if command work from it. If it does, then there is no reason why it should not work in the app. Does the projector need authentication?

it shouldn't need authentication, when i send the command via PacketSender there is no authentication done, just a straight ip address and port and the command i'm sending.

I won't have access to the projectors again for a couple days so i will have to get back to you regarding this.

Seems i've gotten at least one projector working so far, now it seems like it's an issue of the projectors not being in network standby mode or for some reason not having a network standby, even though they are all the same model projector >.<

So i have them all working now. Slightly delayed but thats an issue with the projectors and not with the commands obviously.

Now i'm just waiting on my extra router and to order my IR unit so that i can successfully add my matrix switcher, cable box and lutron lights to the system. Will be nice to finally be able to combine the rooms.

How did you solve the network standby issue? Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere, or a firmware update? My 550W doesn't seem to be doing network standby, so I'm unable to turn the projector on remotely.

To answer my own question in case someone else ends up here... yes... there is a network standby feature. Turns out my projector was in the "power saving" standby mode, which disables the network stack.
