Tutorial: Drawers - Unpinned

Last Updated: Jun 27, 2014 03:27PM EDT
Unpinned drawers allow you to create a common panel/page and use that panel/page throughout your setup and reduce amount of space buttons occupy on handsets such as iPod, iPhone, Android Phones.  For instance creating a common volume and power page and referencing that page in the drawers on actual activity pages.  That way, any changes made in that single page will be automatically propagated to the panels/pages where the drawers referencing that page are.  Additionally, when Drawers are unpinned, you have ability to have more functions on the same page without having to flick back and forth to other pages.

Please be aware that on iOS 3.x.x ONLY PINNED drawers are possible.

Step 1:

Create a panel/page where you would like to house your common buttons, links, feedbacks, etc.  The way to arrange the objects on the page is using the following method.  If you want Drawer on the right, you put all the objects to be shown in the right drawer on the left of the common objects page.  If your Drawer is on the Left, you would place them on the right.  Same approach for drawer on the bottom of the page.  Please be aware that Top area is reserved for iOS messaging so no drawer can be placed there.

Step 2:

Click on the More tab and expand the Widgets item.

Step 3:

Left mouse button click and hold while dragging the Drawers widget to the location where you want to place it (Left, Right or Bottom).

Step 4:

When you let go, the Drawer tab indicator will appear where you placed the Drawer widget.

Step 5:

Left mouse button click on the Drawer Tab indicator.  This will select the object and you will see the object properties on the bottom left hand corner.  From the drop-down select Panel Name and Page Name you created in Step 1.

Step 6:

For the field called Pinned select No from the drop-down.

Step 7:

Rename the Drawer to make it better identifiable in your setup.

Step 8:

Make a choice whether you want this drawer to show up when you initially open the page.

Step 9:

Adjust the Percentage of the drawer to be shown in the properties of the Drawer or you can left mouse button click and hold the Drawer tab icon while dragging left or right.

Step 10:

Follow similar approach to add drawers to the left and bottom of the GUI.  The result of having left and right drawers will look like this:

Step 11:

The final product when synced to the device wil look like the image below.  To show or hide a drawer, touch the Drawer Tab indicator on the device and drag it in and out.
